News Release: Coast Guard medically evacuates missing 73-year-old man

ASTORIA, Ore. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 73-year-old man who has been missing since Monday in the vicinity of Port Orford, Ore., Wednesday.

The man was found at Josh Creek in Rogue River National Forest, 14 miles east of Port Orford, by a Curry County Search and Rescue team who requested a medical evacuation by helicopter due to the terrain.

A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station North Bend, Ore., hoisted the man and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Air Station North Bend.  The man was then transferred to Bay Area Hospital, where he was last listed in stable condition.

The Coast Guard and Curry County Sheriff’s Office crews had been searching for the man since he was reported missing.
