COAST GUARD MEDEVACS MAN AFTER BOAT BREAKS APART SEATTLE - The Coast Guard medevaced a 37 year-old man near Nestucca Bay, Ore., this morning after the boat he was in broke apart in severe weather. The Coast Guard received a call from a 911 dispatcher reporting two men in the water near the mouth of Nestucca Bay at 7:50 a.m. An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Facility Newport, Ore., was launched at 8:08 a.m., to rescue the men. The second person on the boat, a 41 year-old man, was conscious when picked up by a Good Samaritan near the debri of the boat. The 37 year-old man was hoisted unconscious into the helicopter and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation was immediately started by the rescue swimmer. Both of the men were taken to shore and transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel and were taken to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City, Ore. The 37 year-old man was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
