ASTORIA, Ore. - A 25-foot motor life boat crew from Station Cape Disappointment, Wash., patrols the Columbia River near Hammond, Ore., Saturday, June 26, 2010, to educate boaters on alcohol and safety awareness. The effort is part of Operation Dry Water, an initiative to inform boaters of the dangers of boating under the influence (BUI) of alcohol and to enforce laws concerning BUI and safe boating. The Coast Guard contends that this BUI crackdown is just as important to public safety as the enforcement of drunk driving laws.
