SEATTLE — A Port Orchard, Wash., native was selected as the 2009 Coast Guard Enlisted Person of the Year for Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, Fla.

Petty Officer 1st Class Danial Desjardin, 31, is a yeoman and 11-year veteran of the Coast Guard. He serves as an assistant servicing personnel office supervisor for Sector Jacksonville. His areas of responsibility include payroll certification and delivery, preparing military travel orders and arranging transportation.

“I was very honored and humbled after receiving word that I was selected,” said Desjardin.

“He has established himself as an expert when it comes to handling critical incident stress management cases within Sector Jacksonville's area of responsibility,” said Senior Chief Petty Officer Robert Miller, a yeoman  and Sector Jacksonville’s service personnel office supervisor.

“His concern for his shipmates and family members is one of the reasons he stands out. He takes great pride in giving back to his community as evidenced by his interaction within his community,” said Miller.
