Coast Guard hoists man from fishing boat near Cape Blanco, Ore.

ASTORIA, Ore. - A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin crew medically evacuates a man from the fishing vessel Shenanegan near Cape Blanco, Ore., Wednesday Feb. 17, 2010.

ASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard hoisted a 33-year-old man from a fishing vessel near Cape Blanco, Ore. Wednesday.

Coast Guard Station Coos Bay, Ore., recieved a request for assistance from the 50-foot fishing vessel Shenanegan at 1:33 p.m.after a man aboard the vessel began to complain of chest pains.  A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Coos Bay was dispatched to the scene with two emergency medical technicians and an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend, Ore.

Despite poor visibility, caused by heavy fog, the helicopter crew hoisted the man into the helicopter and returned him to Air Station North Bend where he was transferred to Bay Area Hospital by ambulance.
