Coast Guard searches for man overboard
|

ASTORIA, Ore. — A Clatsop County dive team has recovered the body of the 32-year-old fisherman who fell from a crab fishing vessel approximately 10 miles from the Columbia River entrance Thursday. The dive team was dispatched with a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, Ore., and recovered the deceased fisherman near the fishing vessel Ballad. Coast Guard Group/Air Astoria, Ore., received a radio call at approximately 1 p.m. from the vessel reporting a man had fallen overboard. An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Group North Bend, Ore., was in the area and was diverted to conduct a search. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, a motor lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment, Wash., and two Good Samaritan boat crews also assisted with the search. |
