SEATTLE - Coast Guard members, family and friends of Petty Officer 1st Class Ryan Seward gathered at Coast Guard Port Security Unit 313, based in Everett, Wash., for a memorial dedication, Oct. 17, 2009.

Seward was killed during a hit-and-run while riding his scooter in Puyallup, Wash., Aug. 4, 2009.

"It was our honor and privilege as members of Port Security Unit 313 to dedicate this facility to Ryan, his family and friends for his 20 plus years of service in the Navy and the Coast Guard," said Cmdr. James Andrews,  commanding officer of Coast Guard Port Security Unit 313 based in Everett, Wash. "He was an integral part of our unit and he will be greatly missed."

Seward is survived by his wife Karin, his children Ciarin, Kanady and Patrick Cleveland.
