Coast Guard investigators respond to boat grounding

SEATTLE – Investigators from Coast Guard Sector Portland, Ore., have responded to a report of a vessel aground on the Columbia River near Rooster Rock State Park in Multnomah, Ore., Thursday.

At 10:34 a.m. Sector Portland received a report that the 40-foot jet boat, Outrageous, had run hard aground.

Multnomah County Emergency Medical Service was dispatched to assist a passenger who was complaining of neck and wrist pain.

Sector Portland has sent a team to investigate the grounding.  The crew of the Outrageous was able to free the vessel from the sandbar without any apparent structural damage.

The passengers were safely offloaded at the Port of Washougal, Wash.

The Coast Guard reminds mariners to operate their vessels safely within the navigable channel marked by aids to navigation.
