Coast Guard hoists injured man 24 miles from Cape Flattery

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard hoisted an injured man from a cruise ship 24 miles northwest of Cape Flattery, Wash., Thursday.

The crew of an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Group/Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., medically evacuated the man from the Celebrity Cruises’ vessel Mercury.

At approximately 4:40 a.m. the Rescue Coordination Center in Victoria, British Columbia, requested assistance from Coast Guard Group Port Angeles for a 70-year-old man having medical issues.

The helicopter crew transported the man to Victoria General Hospital.
