Coast Guard suspends search for possible overboard owner of bicycle

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard suspended its search for for the owner of a bicycle left on the Washington State Ferry Hyak, after the 6:45 p.m. sailing from Seattle to Bremerton, Wash., Friday. The search was suspended at approximately 11:00 p.m. after a Coast Guard rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., assisted local agencies search nearly two and a half hours in case the bike's owner fell overboard. The search began after the bike was found at 7:41 p.m. when the Hyak pulled into port in Bremerton. The bike is described as a men's blue, older model Schwinn. Coast Guard Sector Seattle was notified that there was a bicycle left on the ferry and at 8:22 p.m. a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle was launched to begin a search.
