- UPDATE - |
|
|
The 50-foot fishing vessel Lori Ann (ex Little Linda) was unable to be re-floated using the high tide and remains aground on The Lori Ann had a crew of two people and was carrying approximately 1,800 gallons of diesel fuel when it ran aground at approximately 2 a.m. A Coast Guard search and rescue team from Contractors from Northwest Fire Fighters, a commercial pollution response firm, pumped approximately 400 gallons of fuel off the Lori Ann in order to reduce the vessel’s weight in preparation for salvage operations and to reduce the pollution release potential. The owners have worked with the Coast Guard to create a salvage plan to remove the vessel and operations are currently underway. Clean-up contractors will remain on scene overnight to ensure that none of the remaining diesel oil is released. An attempt to tow the vessel from the beach will commence tomorrow morning. |
