Coast Guard reminds boaters to secure watercraft |

The 10-foot blue kayak contained three dry-bags that held clothing and food. No paddles were found with the kayak. Significant efforts were made and resources were utilized by both the Coast Guard and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in response to the report. An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Group/Station Port Angeles, Wash., was launched at 7:15 p.m. Monday. A small boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle also conducted a search in the vicinity of The kayak owner reported the kayak missing this morning and retrieved it from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The Coast Guard reminds boaters to secure boats and other watercraft to prevent unnecessary use of search and rescue assets.
