Coast Guard responding to sheen near Westport, Ore.
-update-

PORTLAND, Ore. — Coast Guard Sector Portland completed its response at the site of a 48-foot sunken boat near Westport, Ore., at the Kerry West Marina Wednesday.

It is estimated that the vessel released approximately five gallons of lube oil and 10 gallons of diesel into the Westport Slough.

Divers from Northwest Underwater Construction ensured there was no remaining fuel and capped off the vessel’s vents and tanks to prevent any further release of material into the waterway. Contractors from Cowlitz Clean Sweep also removed all recoverable oil on the surface of the water.
