Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf invites media to ride-along

SEATTLE – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf has 10 spots available for members of the media who want to ride on the ship during the Seattle Seafair Parade of Ships Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

Interested media must reserve a position by calling (206) 220-7237 and arrive with credentials no later than 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf, homeported in Alameda, Calif., having been commissioned on August 4, 2008 is the newest cutter to join the Coast Guard’s fleet. It is named after Ellsworth P. Bertholf, former Commandant of both the Revenue Cutter Service and the Coast Guard.  The cutter is the first-in-class ship of the design termed the National Security Cutter.
