Man found dead in Boundary Bay

SEATTLE - The body of a 52-year-old man from Point Roberts, Wash., was recovered today in Boundary Bay after a search by Coast Guard and Canadian coast guard crews.

The Coast Guard initiated the search Sunday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m. after receiving a report from a family member of a recreational fisherman overdue from a fishing trip.

Coast Guard Station Bellingham, Wash., launched a 33-foot response boat crew and Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., launched an HH-65C helicopter crew to Boundary Bay, Wash., to conduct the search.  A Canadian coast guard hovercraft crew joined the search at approximately 3:30 p.m. to assist the search within Canadian waters.

The Canadian coast guard hovercraft crew found the man in his boat in Canadian waters at approximately 4 p.m.

The identity of the man found is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
