Coast Guard suspends search for missing person from Washington State Ferry

SEATTLE The Coast Guard suspended its search at 12 p.m., Wednesday in response to an unclaimed red Huffy Eagle Sport bicycle left on the Washington State Ferry (WSF) Kitsap.

Coast Guard Sector Seattle received word at approximately 9:05 a.m. of a bicycle left on the ferry Kitsap after it had arrived at its Seattle facility from Bremerton, Wash.

An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Port Angeles, Wash., and a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Seattle were dispatched to conduct the search.

The Washington State Ferry and Washington State Patrol participated in the search.

The identity of the bicycle's owner has not been verified.

The Coast Guard asks that any mariner that sees signs of distress on the water to call their local Coast Guard unit or 911 immediately.

If anyone has information regarding the identity of the missing person, please call the WSF Operations Center at (206) 515-3441.
