Woman medically evacuated near Coquille, Ore.

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a woman from her home in a flooded area 12 miles east of Coquille, Ore., Monday.

Coast Guard Group/Air Station North Bend, Ore., received a request from the Coos County, Ore., Sherrif's Department at 11:40 a.m. asking for assistance with moving the 41-year-old woman who was complaining of abdominal pains and difficulty breathing.  An HH-65 helicopter crew from North Bend was diverted to the scene after refueling and picked the woman up at 1:20 p.m.  The woman was taken to a waiting ambulance at the North Bend Airport and transported to Bay Area Hospital in North Bend.

The missions of Group/Air Station North Bend include maritime search and rescue, enforcement of laws and treaties, providing aids to navigation, and marine environmental protection.  In addition, the air station frequently assists Federal, state and county agencies by responding to calls for assistance with inland searches and medical evacuations of injured loggers.
