Coast Guard airlifts injured hiker

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard airlifted an injured hiker just north of Snoqualmie Pass, Wash., Monday.

The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, who are responsible for all inland search-and-rescue, received a report of an injured hiker at approximately 12:50 a.m. Monday.

An MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew was launched from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles and were able to successfully complete the hoist. They are now en route to Boeing Field here to transfer the injured hiker to an awaiting ambulance.

At first a Navy rescue helicopter crew attempted to conduct the airlift, but due to heavy winds they were unable to complete the hoist.
