Coast Guard searches for man in water

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is searching for a man reported in the water near Simpson Beach just south of Coos Bay, Ore., Saturday.

A Good Samaritan notified Coast Guard Group North Bend, Ore., of two persons in the water around 3:40 p.m.  Coos Bay Fire Department crews reported they had recovered an unresponsive boy from the water and were searching for the second person.

An HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Group North Bend airlifted the boy from the beach to an awaiting ambulance at Shore Acres State Park.

A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew, an HH-65 rescue helicopter crew and local agencies are now searching the area for the missing man.
