Welcome to the first official entry in the Thirteenth Coast Guard District (D13) blog.

Flood5.JPG We plan on using this blog to talk about the things that unfortunately, do not make the monthly podcast due to time constraint, or don't warrant a press release but ARE important none the less!

Because blogs are usually written in a personal diary or journal form, we will keep this blog along those lines to make it more personable to you! Seeing that this is our first blog, we highly welcome comments and feedback. This will help us mold the way you want to see and read about YOUR Thirteenth Coast Guard District on the web!

The time of year determines what Coasties are busy with. Summertime brings the annual Seattle Seafair, a significantly increased amount of recreational boaters, boardings etc., but wintertime is just as equally busy. Commercial fishermen and even some recreational boaters brave the rough seas and violent winds. When this happens, it keeps our small boat and air stations pretty busy.

We hope you enjoyed our first blog entry. This is just another avenue to keep you all plugged in to D13 happenings. We're learning as we go, so tell us what you like and what you don't like. Along with this first blog is our first monthly podcast! Yay! So sit back, kick your feet up and (hopefully your speakers work) take a gander at some video goodness. Keep warm out there and Semper Paratus!

Sincerely,

Your friends at the D13 Public Affairs shop
