COAST GUARD AUXILIARY OFFERS BOATING SAFETY COURSE SEATTLE - Coast Guard Auxiliary is scheduled to teach an America's Boating Course on December 8 at the Bainbridge Island Commons' Kalgren Room, on Bainbridge Island, Wash., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This comprehensive course offers recreational boaters a wide variety of boating information and instruction including safety equipment, boat handling, trailering and federal and state requirements for boating. Completion of this boating course meets Washington State's boating education requirements and graduates can apply for the Boater's Education Card. Many insurance companies also provide discounts to graduates of the boating education course. A $35 registration fee covers book, CD, materials and exam. To pre-register contact Grant Winther at 206-842-5862. ### The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is composed of uniformed, non-military volunteer civilians who assist the Coast Guard in all of its varied missions, except for military and direct law enforcement. These men and women can be found on the nation's waterways, in the air, in classrooms and on the dock, performing Maritime Domain Awareness patrols, safety patrols, vessel safety checks and public education. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and re-designated as the Auxiliary in 1941. Its 35,000 members donate millions of hours annually in support of Coast Guard missions. | |
