Coast Guard airlifts 40-year old man from fishing boat | |

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard airlifted a 40-year-old male from a charter fishing vessel three miles north of Depoe Bay, Oregon today. The master of the 40-foot vessel Mr. Max contacted the Coast Guard by VHF-FM radio at 11:40 a.m. requesting assistance for an unconscious man. An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Newport, Ore. and a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Depoe Bay, Ore. were launched minutes later to aid the victim. The man was hoisted to the helicopter at approximately 12:18 p.m. and transported to North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City, Ore., where he was pronounced dead. The man's name was not immediately available. | |
