Boating skills & seamanship course offered by Coast Guard Auxiliary

  

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a boating skills and seamanship course in Bellingham, Wash., beginning September 11, 2006 at the St. Joseph's Health Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Parkway.

The comprehensive, 13-night course offers recreational boaters a wide variety of information and instruction including safety equipment, boat handling, navigation, water and weather, federal and state requirements for boating, and much more.  

Classes are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 11,13,18,21,25,27 and Oct. 2,5,9,11,16,18, 23.

Completion of course qualifies graduates for the Washington State Boater Education Card.  In addition, many insurance companies provide discounts to graduates of the Boating Skills and Seamanship course.

A $40.00 enrollment fee to cover the costs of books and materials is required. There is no charge for family members who wish to share materials.

Registration is limited. Parking is free.
