COAST GUARD AUXILIARY OFFERING BOATING SAFETY COURSE
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash.- The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 48 will conduct two America's Boating Courses September 16 or October 7 on Bainbridge Island. America's Boating Course is designed for people at least 18-years-old who are interested in the fundamentals of boating. The course will cover general boating information and maintenance, safe and comfortable boat operation, laws and regulations and courteous boater tips. Completion of the Coast Guard Auxiliary's America's Boating Course meets the boating educational requirements for Washington State, which allows graduates to apply for the Boater's Education Card. Many insurance companies provide discounts to graduates of the boating education course. Individuals are required to pre-register. A fee of $35 is required for books and materials. For more information, or to register for this course, contact Joe Dunstan at 206-780-0523. ### The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is composed of uniformed, non-military volunteer civilians who assist the Coast Guard in all of its varied missions, except for military and direct law enforcement. These men and women can be found on the nation's waterways, in the air, in classrooms and on the dock, performing Maritime Domain Awareness patrols, safety patrols, vessel safety checks and public education. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and re-designated as the Auxiliary in 1941. Its 35,000 members donate millions of hours annually in support of Coast Guard missions. | |
