SEATTLE - The Coast Guard has suspended a search for a 73-year-old man who was reported missing Tuesday evening. Coast Guard Group Astoria received a call at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday from an Oregon State Trooper reporting that a woman had called claiming her husband had not returned from a fishing trip out of Old Mill Marina, Ore. A utility boat from Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay was quickly launched to to search the entrance to the Garibaldi Marina for the man's boat. The boat was located but no one was aboard. The engine was running and a catch of live crabs was reported to be on board. Two HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crews from Air Station Astoria conducted seperate searches over the bay and shoreline areas until late morning Wednesday. The Coast Guard conducted an 11-hour search over approximately 212 miles before suspending their efforts.
