SEATTLE GRIEVES FOR FALLEN COAST GUARDSMEN
|
SEATTLE - Petty Officer Second Class Kristina Serfass and Petty Officer Second Class Vanessa Agusto of the Coast Guard Cutter Healy share a moment of rememberance for Petty Officer Second Class Steven Duque and Lt. Jessica Hill during a memorial service in their honor at Coast Guard Integrated Support Command Seattle, Thursday. Duque and Hill perished August 17 during a diving accident 500 miles north of Barrow, Alaska., while Healy was performing a science mission in the Arctic Ocean. Rear Adm. Richard R. Houck, Thirteenth Coast Guard District Commander, spoke at the service along with Capt. Daniel Oliver who served with Duque and Hill while he was commanding officer of the Healy. Oliver told the audience of Coast Guard, Fire, Police and Emergency Medical workers of his encounters with Hill and Duque citing humorous moments they shared while traversing the freezing waters of the Arctic Ocean. An investigation into the cause of Duque's and Hill's deaths is currently underway. USCG photo by: Petty Officer Shawn Eggert
