Coast Guard airlifts injured hunter near La Push, Wash.*Video available* | |

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard medevaced a hunter today after he was injured in a remote mountainous region 20 miles southeast of Forks, Wash., near the Clearwater River. At 12:00 p.m., Coast Guard Group/Air Station Port Angeles received a call from the Jefferson County 911 Center requesting helicopter assistance for the injured 55-year old man. A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter reached the man at 1:50 p.m. and hoisted him more that 240 feet to safety with the help of a rescue swimmer. The man was transported to the Forks, Wash., Airport and transferred to the Forks Hospital by ambulance for further treatment. Video of the hoist can be seen at the following link: | |
